Original 1937 porcelain presentation trophy charger from Continental Tires given by Continental tire company to the very best 1930 s German racers and dated 1937. Of the 12 that are known to have been made, I only know of 3 others and I chased after one for years after seeing the one in Indy. One that Continental Tires has. The other one like this is in the Indy 500 museum where I first saw it about 20 years ago. That one belonged to Caracciola and came from his estate and is so documented. This one came from Germany but not sure whose it is or had belonged to. There are 12 racers pictures around the edge and one was given to each of them by Continental. It is presumed that most were destroyed during the war and the bombing of Germany. The Indy one, Continental factory one and this are the only 3 I have heard of except one that was all scratched like it had been used for pasta but have never confirmed that or found out who had it. The pictures of both Motorcycle and race car drivers are of: Caracciola, Rosemeyer, V. Brauchitsch, Lang, V. Delius, Stuck, Hasse, Vahrmann, Braun, Kluge, Gall and Fleishmann. In the center ring is 1937 Das Jahr Der Siege Deutscher Rennwagen Und Kraftrader Auf Continental-Reifen roughly translated means 1937 the year of the victories of German racing cars and Kraftrader on Continental tires . The charger was made by Furstenberg of Germany and is the highest of quality porcelain with Perfect gold and blue and pictures. Flawless like it was store ...
